The Strong Interest Inventory was developed in the 1960’s by Dr. John Holland and has since been updated twice by a team of career professionals and psychological testing facilities from across Canada. Results from the SII are derived from the comparison between the client and 18,000+ men and women in the sample group, who were satisfied in their chosen careers. Used mostly in career counseling, SII is very useful in helping match one’s interests with core values and occupational choices. SII also correlates the client’s interests with Canada’s National Occupational Codes (NOC) which clusters over 24,000 occupational roles based on education, skill level and interest area.
The SII can be completed online or manually, and coaching for interpretation is recommended.
